THE IDEA
One small reaction carries the scene.
The window gives the camera a destination; the snack gives the subject something to interrupt. Keep the action brief so the surprised look and curtain close have room to register.
Portraits with context
A front-facing, evenly lit photo helps establish the face. Clothing and shoulders give the model useful scene information.
A staged joke
Make the scene with people who agreed to appear. Do not present it as real surveillance or as evidence of someone’s private behavior.
